PTI Launches Street Movement in Remote Yarkhun Valley

Bang (Yarkhun), Jan 25, 2026: Residents of Bang Village in Yarkhun, Upper Chitral, launched a street movement under the supervision of Deputy Speaker Suriya Bibi, demanding the immediate release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and MNA Abdul Latif.

The protest rally took place amid extreme winter conditions with snow levels reaching up to two feet.
Participants described Khan’s detention as a clear violation of constitutional and legal rights.

The movement reflected the resilience of grassroots activism in even the most remote parts of Chitral. The participants said that the street movement had been launched across the KP province on the direction of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

They said the movement in Chitral will continue till the release of the party founder as well as Chitral’s MNA Abdul Latif who is languishing in the Adiala Jail of Rawalpindi on a baseless and concocted terrorism case.

The protesters said that both the districts of Lower and Upper Chitral were without representation in the National Assembly as the MNA was jailed for his refusal to compromise on principles and stop backing Imran for which the people of Chitral had voted him.
