Weather alert issued for Chitral and other districts in Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

Another Snow and Rain Alert Issued


Chitral, Jan 24, 2026: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued another warning of heavy rain and snowfall starting Sunday night.
The alert covers Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, and Kohistan, where severe snow and rain are expected from January 25 to 27. Upper areas may see very low temperatures and heavy snowfall.
The PDMA warned that roads in Chitral, Dir, Naran, Kaghan and Kalam may remain blocked, and there is a risk of landslides and snow avalanches in mountainous areas.

PDMA instructed all local administrations to take precautionary measures and ensure safety for residents and travelers.
Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.

After prolonged dry spell, Chitral and other areas in northern areas received heavy snowfall a day earlier. Nine family members lost their lives when an avalanche buried their house in a remote village of Damel in Arandu Lower Chitral on Jan 23, 2026.
