Chitral, Dec 16, 2025: In a major effort aimed at improving access to justice, the judicial records of District Upper Chitral and District Lower Chitral have been formally separated in compliance with the directives of the Peshawar High Court.
The separation process has been successfully completed following the approval of a proposal submitted by District & Sessions Judge Lower Chitral Shahnaz Hameed Khattak.
The move marks a significant milestone in the judicial and administrative history of Chitral.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Khattak stated that the reform would greatly ease difficulties faced by litigants and members of the public, who previously had to travel long and difficult distances between Upper and Lower Chitral to obtain judicial records.
With the separation now in place, judicial records will be locally accessible in both districts, resulting in time savings, reduced financial burden and greater convenience for court users.
The initiative reflects the litigant-friendly and progressive vision of the Peshawar High Court and its commitment to strengthening judicial institutions and improving access to justice in remote and underserved regions.
Legal experts believe the step will enhance efficiency in court proceedings and strengthen public confidence in the justice delivery system.
The development has been welcomed by lawyers, litigants and residents of Chitral, who see it as a long-awaited and practical reform bringing justice closer to the people.
