Chitral Bazar union president says no strike on Feb 8 on call of PTI.

No Shutdown Strike in Chitral Bazar on Feb 8: Traders’ Union

Chitral, Feb 7, 2026: The Traders’ Union of Chitral Bazar has announced that there will be no shutdown strike in the market tomorrow, February 8.

This announcement comes in the wake of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) declaring a nationwide shutterdown protest on the same day, alleging that the general elections held on February 8, 2024, were rigged.

The President of the Chitral Traders’ Union in a social media statement said he contacted the Malakand Division Traders’ Union President, who also confirmed that no strike had been scheduled.

The Union said that the authority to declare a market shutdown rests solely with the Traders’ Union leadership, not any political party. Traders and the public are therefore informed that business in Chitral Bazar will continue as usual tomorrow.

  1. The bazar union president should not have become a party and order shopkeepers to keep their shops open. He has no business with a shopkeepers personal decision. He got a good snubbing from the PTI workers which I think he had asked for, and deserved.
