Booni, Oct 10, 2025: The provincial government’s Clean and Transparent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Program was launched in Upper Chitral to establish a modern, efficient and sustainable sanitation system in the district.
Assistant Director Local Government Headquarters Misbahuddin organized the inauguration ceremony, which drew government officials, local representatives, janitorial staff, and community members. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Imran Khan attended the function in Booni as guest of honour and President PTI Upper Chitral Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk as chief guest.
In his welcome address, Misbahuddin described the initiative as a transformative step toward cleaner communities. The government has equipped each Village Council with janitorial staff, handcarts, cleaning tools, and rickshaw loaders to ensure timely waste collection, safe disposal, and improved sanitation. He urged residents to actively support the campaign, stressing that public participation is essential to preserve Upper Chitral’s natural beauty.
“A clean and healthy environment lays the foundation for development and prosperity,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioner announced the start of the cleanliness drive from the DC Office and pledged his personal involvement. He directed janitorial staff to perform their duties diligently and follow SOPs, warning that he would not tolerate negligence. He stated that the new system will raise cleanliness standards across Upper Chitral.
Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk highlighted the program as a practical expression of the provincial government’s vision for a clean, green, and healthy Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He noted that the initiative will not only improve sanitation services but also encourage environmentally responsible behavior in both urban and rural communities.
At the end of the ceremony, officials handed over rickshaw loader keys to Village Council Chairmen and Secretaries and presented commemorative shields to the guests.
The Clean and Transparent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Program will strengthen sanitation systems, foster civic responsibility, and raise environmental awareness, paving the way for a cleaner and healthier future in Upper Chitral.
