Lahore, Aug 25, 2025: The World Bank has approved $47.9 million to improve primary education in Punjab.
The project will expand early education, bring out-of-school children back to classrooms, and strengthen teacher training.
Punjab has nearly seven million children out of school. The program will benefit about five million children, 7,000 headmasters, and 165,000 teachers.
In June 2025, the World Bank approved $150 million for similar reforms in Punjab. That funding targeted equal access for boys and girls and aimed to improve learning outcomes.
World Bank Country Director for Pakistan, Najy Benhassine, said the new grant will ensure more children receive quality education. He stressed that the initiative will play a key role in building a stronger education system in Punjab.
The project will begin once Pakistan receives the funds.
