ISLAMABAD, Aug 23, 2025: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will contest the upcoming by-elections together. Leaders from both parties announced the alliance during a joint press conference in Islamabad.
PPP leader Raja Pervez Ashraf said both parties had agreed on a formula. “In constituencies where a candidate from either party came second in the last election, that party will field the candidate this time,” he explained. He thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for helping finalize the agreement.
PML-N leader and Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi called the alliance strong and united. “Our leadership makes wise and joint decisions,” he said. “The public should know we are working together.”
The alliance marks a major shift. Once political rivals, PML-N and PPP are now teaming up to consolidate votes. Their move could reshape the electoral landscape and challenge other contenders.
