BOONI: As the annual Kaghlasht festival continued on the second day on Saturday, the district administration of Upper Chitral has emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness at the venue.
Under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Haseebur Rehman Khan Khalil, teams from TMA Mastuj and TMA Mulkhow/Torkhow are working to ensure a clean environment.
“With thousands of local and international tourists arriving daily, the administration is making a heartfelt appeal to all festival-goers: please do not litter. Visitors are urged to dispose of waste responsibly using the designated bins and to contribute to preserving the natural beauty of Qaqlasht,” said the district administration.
Officials have warned that careless littering not only spoils the scenic landscape but also endangers the region’s precious wildlife and grazing livestock. Improper waste disposal can lead to serious environmental harm, especially in such an ecologically sensitive area.
“We request all spectators to act responsibly,” a spokesperson from the administration said. “Let’s show respect for this land, for its people, and for the future generations who deserve to see it just as beautiful.”
The administration continues to stress that a clean Qaqlasht is a shared responsibility, and the cooperation of every visitor is key to the success of the festival and the protection of its natural charm.
The event, organized under the auspices of the Culture and Tourism Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, started on April 18, featuring a rich blend of traditional and modern sports, including polo, football, cricket, volleyball, and indigenous games. The festival will conclude on April 20 (Sunday).
