Around 10,000 tourists visited Chitral on Eid: KPTA

PESHAWAR: Around 100,000 tourists visited the scenic northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, during the three-day Eidul Fitr holidays.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Authority (KPTA), a total of 100,200 tourists headed to the picturesque valleys of the province during the Eid holidays.

Besides the weekend, the government had declared March 31 to April 1 as public holidays for Eidul Fitr which was observed on March 31.

Kaghan and Naran received the most visitors, with numbers exceeding 42,000 while Galyat attracted 28,000 tourists and 16,400 people visited Kumrat.

A total of 8,400 people visited Kalash and Garam Chashma in Lower Chitral while 1,200 tourists traveled to Booni and Mastuj. However, data on the number of visitors to Swat is yet to be received.

Travellers in Chitral said they faced lots of hardship due to poor condition of roads, especially the road between Chitral town and Booni. Lack of proper accommodation was another issue, they added.
