Shandur top ice sports challenge starts

BOONI: A five-day ice sports challenge event started for the first time on Shandur top on December 24, which will run through December 28.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, Winter Sports Federation, the district administration of Upper Chitral and Chitral Scouts have jointly organized the competitions.

The first phase of the event began on Sunday in the Laspur, Upper Chitral. Over 100 athletes, including women, from both Lower and Upper Chitral districts, are participating in the contests.

During this phase, players were selected to compete in the final matches at Shandur Top on December 28.

Players from Gabor, Garam Chashma, Kalash, Madaklasht, Booni, Parwak, Yarkhun Lasht, Harchin and others are participating in the competitions.

Ice hockey, skating and other winter games are scheduled to be held.

A large number of winter sports lovers have also reached the venue. 

Rescue 1122 Chitral said that it has deputed its staff at the venue to provide assistance to the participants in case of any emergency.
