Demand for Mastuj-Broghil road gets momentum
BANG (UPPER CHITRAL): Despite severe cold and rain, a large number of people gathered in Bang village of Yarkhun in Upper Chitral, demanding the construction of the Mastuj-Broghil Road.
The public gathering was arranged by Mastuj-Broghil Road Tehreek and was second within a span of about three weeks following another in Brep.
People from various remote areas such as Broghil, Laspur, traveled to Bang to join the rally, underscoring the critical need for the infrastructure development.
The participants expressed frustration, stating, “Successive governments have neglected this region. Building this road will not only alleviate the hardships faced by residents of over 25 villages but will also promote tourism in the area.”
Local elders, addressing the crowd, pledged to continue their advocacy for the road’s construction and warned they would stage sit-ins in Peshawar and Islamabad if the government failed to respond to their demands.
They noted that the current road conditions have led to multiple fatal accidents, and the lengthy journey from Lasht to Chitral-taking nearly two days-has driven up prices of essential goods.
