Traders decide to join protest against CPC official
CHITRAL: Traders in Chitral have announced that they would join the protest against the Consumer Protection Council additional director on Monday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the interim cabinet of the traders union held with former president Haji Jalil on Sunday.
Political parties, the district bar and other stakeholders have announced the protest demonstration against the CPC additional director Irfan Aziz for misusing his authority and assaulting the manager of the TCS office in Chitral a few weeks ago.
Despite a video clip, the CPC official has dismissed the allegations.
The incident occurred on Aug 27. But the police did not register the case after receiving an application. On September 2, political and religious parties and civil society demanded action against the CPC official. Later, a decision was made to hold a protest demonstration against the official and demanding action against him
On the other hand, the district administration of Lower Chitral is delaying action and in a statement said that some people were deliberately making a minor incident a big issue.
The district administration said that the additional deputy commissioner was probing the incident and would submit a report.
Moreover, the Levies personnel seen in the video dragging the TCS official away from his office to the police station have been called for questing. But the district administration did not clarify if the CPC additional director was empowered to use the Levies personnel to set a personal score.
