Chief secretary wants rehabilitation work on priority
BOONI: Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry on Thursday visited the flood-devastated Sor Rech village of Torkhow in Upper Chitral.
He met the displaced families and distributed relief cheques of Rs2 million among the heirs of two persons who lost their lives and Rs6 million among owners of 30 houses fully damaged in the GLOF on Aug 2.
The top bureaucrat of the province said an emergency had been declared in the district to carry out rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure such as roads, water supply lines and irrigation channels.
He said Chitral is a scenic and peaceful area, but natural calamities badly affected it every year. He assured the locals that all departments concerned would work on an emergency basis to restore the damaged infrastructure, adding negligence would not be tolerated in this regard.
