A trail of destruction in Sor Rech
BOONI: Officials from the district administration of Upper Chitral and AKAH visited the flood-devastated village of Sor Rech in Torkhow on Friday where 43 houses have been buried by GLOF under mud and boulders along with crops, agricultural land and orchards.
Moreover, two persons, including a woman, also died from drowning in the flood caused by bursting of glacial lake which the locals said had occurred in the village for the first time.
An official, who visited the village, told ChitralToday that the village was in tatters and the displaced families were in urgent need of essential supplies. A medical camp has been set up in the area, he added.
He said that irrigation channels, water supply network and link roads in the village have been damaged in the flood that occurred on August 1.
Local people said that the displaced families needed food items, medical supplies and clothing. Residents of Khot, meanwhile, have set up camps to collect essential food and other items for the displaced families.
