Samina Baig shifted to hospital

SKARDU: World’s famous mountaineer Samina Baig was on Saturday shifted to a hospital in Skardu from the base camp of K2 in Shigar district of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Samina Baig was at the base camp to scale K2 when her health condition deteriorated. She was brought down from the base camp on horseback, according to media reports.

A foreign doctor earlier advised shifting of the popular mountaineer to hospital for treatment of her pulmonary edema.

The 34-year-old from Hunza  holds the honour of scaling the seven highest peaks in the world, known as the Seven Summits. She became the first Pakistani woman to scale the world’s highest Mount Everest in 2014.
