Assessment of damaged houses underway
CHITRAL: The recent rain and snowfall have caused large scale damages to houses in different parts of Lower Chitral.
A lare swath of land in the hilly Azurdam village in Shishikoh valley of Drosh started sliding on Tuesday, damaging three houses and developing cracks in 17 others.
A mosque in the village was also damaged. The district administration shifted the inmates of the affected area to a government primary school in Shishi. Houses were also damaged in Langah, Naghar and Jinjiret Koh.
The district administration of Lower Chitral said that teams have started assessing damages to prepare reports for submission to the government for compensation.
Chumarkhon village is also badly affected where houses, link roads and water supply lines have been damaged. Damages to houses is also being assessed in Balach, Bakrabad and other areas.
