MULTAN: A residential building collapsed in the old city area of Multan in Punjab at about 4am on Tuesday, killing at least nine and injuring two other people.
The dead included five siblings and their parents.
The incident occured at Sehri time after a gas leakage blast that resulted in the collapse of the building.
The emergency service said that after being alerted about the incident, its staff reached the spot and retrieved the victims from the rubble of the building.
It said nine people had died under the rubble while two were alive. The dead bodies and the two injured were shifted to hospital.
The government of the Punjab has ordered an inquiry into the incident and directed the district administration to submit a report.
