All main roads blocked in Chitral

CHITRAL: After three-day-long snowfall, TMA and NHA machinery have been mobilized to clear roads and Chitral bazar area of snow. However, all main roads out of the town area ate closed. 

The district administration of Lower Chitral said that work to remove snow from Chitral-Dir road was also underway, but the approach road to Lowari tunnel in Dir side was completely blocked due to over four feet of snow.

Roads between Chitral town and other areas such as Kalash valleys, Garam Chashma and Upper Chitral are still closed. The Chitral-Mastuj road is blocked at Nerdit Gol and Phuk Kel bridge due to landsliding 

The district administration of both Lower and Upper Chitral have closed schools and colleges till March 9. The administration officials said work to reopen roads was underway.

In Upper Chitral, road to Yarkhun and Broghil valley is totally blocked and the only mobile phone service in the area is suspended for many days.
