Security situation in Chitral declared totally normal

CHITRAL: Heads of district administration, police and Chitral Scouts on Sunday assured public representatives that there was total peace and no threat to security of Chitral.

The assurance came at a security conference held at Chitral Scouts Officers’ Mess at Jang Bazar which was attended by public representatives and the heads of local administration and law enforcement agencies along with other government departments, according to a press release issued by Lower Chitral police.

The conference was convened after apprehensions among the public following Taliban attacks on security forces checkposts in Afghan border areas in Bumburate and Jinjiret Koh on September 6 that left five Chitral Scouts personnel martyred.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Muhammad Ali Khan, Chitral Scouts Commandant Col Sami Zaman and District Police Officer Ikram Ullah told that participants that the situation was totally normal with routine life going on as usual and all educational institutions and markets open.

They said Pakistan Army, Chitral Scouts, police and Levies were deployed on the border and were on alert. Moreover, security has been further tightened at all the entry, exit points and roads.

The public representatives on the occasion expressed their satisfaction over the situation and said the people of Chitral stood by their security forces and would not hesitate to render any sacrifice to maintain security and peace of Chitral.
