Years of rigorous training and unyielding determination led him to become a renowned polo player, bringing pride to his village and earning the respect of his peers.
Though Amirullah had been collecting artefacts and articles of historical and cultural importance for 30 years, he managed to fulfil his dream in 2018.
It was Amirullah’s lifelong passion to establish a museum as he wished to leave behind a legacy of hard work, commitment and love to one’s cultural identity and heritage.
“It was my dream to preserve our cultural heritage for future generations,” he remarked, adding that with this objective in mind, he made the decision to establish the museum.
However, the road to realising his dream was not an easy one particularly with limited financial resources and other expertise.
But undeterred by these challenges, Amirullah managed to build an octagonal shape structure for the museum named “The Heritage Museum Laspur” with the help of some non-governmental organisations and experts in the field of archaeology.
The museum has a remarkable collection of artefacts and relics, including, apparels, ancient weapons, agricultural tools, traditional dresses, musical instruments, photographs, and a myriad of other items from the past that showcase the rich history and traditions of Laspur and its surrounding valleys.
Visitors are transported through time as they explore exhibits highlighting the local culture, the intricate and traditional craftsmanship, and the vibrant costumes worn by the local people in the past.
For Amirullah, the museum represents the fulfillment of a lifelong passion and a testament to the enduring power of culture.
He firmly believes that preserving and celebrating one\’s heritage fosters a sense of identity and unity within a community.
By providing a platform for the local population to reconnect with their roots, he hopes to inspire the younger generation to carry forward the torch of their cultural legacy.
Today, the heritage museum stands as a beacon of hope and resilience in Laspur valley in Upper Chitral.
Its success has not only revitalized the village but has also attracted tourists from far and wide, eager to witness the living legacy of a man who refused to let his heritage fade away.
Amirullah\’s vision and unwavering determination have transformed a small remote village into a cultural oasis, where the echoes of a proud past resonate with the promise of a vibrant future.
His legacy is not merely confined to the walls of a museum; it lives on in the hearts and minds of those who have been touched by his passion for preserving Chitrali culture.
His story reminds us all of the immense power of individual action and the profound impact it can have on an entire community.
