CHITRAL: The people of the Koh union council in Lower Chitral have given the government three days to meet their demands.

At a meeting held in Mori Lasht with Chairman Sharif Hussain in the chair, the locals put forth their three main demands.

These demands were: construction of the main Chitral-Mastuj road, supply of uninterrupted electricity and provision of subsidized wheat flour.

The participants of the meeting warned that if the demands were not met within the deadline, they would announce their strategy, including public protests.

They said billions of rupees were spent on the construction of the 108 megawatt Golen Gol hydro power house but after its completion it transpired that due to poor design and planning it could generate only 15 megawatt electricity.

As a result of this, areas near the power plant are still without electricity, they added.

The participants warned that if the government failed to resolve the issues they would block the Chitral-Mastuj road and would also not allow power supply from Golen Gol power plant to other areas.
