Woman candidate demands re-polling
CHITRAL: A candidate for the reserved seat of women from the Hart village council in Karimabad on Sunday demanded re-polling in her constituency, alleging that workers of the ruling PTI turned her victory into a defeat through pressure and illegal actions.
Addressing a press conference here, Zulekha Bibi said she had earlier remained a councillor and due to her social works had gained overwhelming support and popularity in the area, especially among women.
She said that due to chances of her sure victory, the ruling PTI hatched a conspiracy and its workers violated election code of conduct by canvassing even on the night before the polling day. Moreover, the PTI workers pressured women in the polling stations not to vote for her.
Ms Zulekha said she was sure of winning the seat with a big majority but due to the pressure tactics of the PTI, she lost the seat.
She called upon teh Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice of the matter and order re-polling in the area.–Bashir Hussain Azad
