PTI wins three of four tehsil councils in Chitral
CHITRAL: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) has won three of the four seats of tehsil council chairmen seats in the March 31 local government elections in Chitral, according to unofficial results available with ChitralToday.
PPP candidate Shahzada Khalid Pervez is leading in the elections for the tehsil council chairman seat of Drosh in Lower Chitral.
According to unofficial results, PTI candidates Shahzada Amanur Rehman won in tehsil Chitral, Sardar Hakim in tehsil Mastuj and Jamshid Ahmed in Torkhow/Mulkhow.
In tehsil Torkhow/Mulkhow, the PTI candidate Mir Jamsheddin scored 8,373 votes while 6,573 votes went to Javed Ahmed of Jamaat-e-Islami, 6,647 to Fatahul Bari of the JUI-F and 6,217 votes were grabbed by PPP candidate Mustanser Uddin and 4,619 by independent Muhammad Haroon.
In tehsil council Chitral, PTI’s Shahzada Amanur Rehman bagged 25,606 votes against 13,285 of Molana Abdur Rehman of the JUI while Faisal Ahmed Saeed of the OPP scored 12,561, and Wajihuddin of the JI 10,878 votes
In tehsil council Drosh, PPP candidate Shahzada Khalid Pervez scored 8,266 votes against 8,161 votes of Haji Sultan Muhammad of the PTI while Sher Muhammad got 7,472 votes, Khadija Bibi of ANP 5,926, Ibadur Rehman 423 and Amir Nuhrab 1,053 votes.
However, the results were delayed after the PTI demanded re-polling in Kamsai polling station of Arandu and did not allow counting of the votes. In the evening on Friday, the votes were counted which showed that the PPP bagged 282 and PTI 277 votes from Kamsai. Thus the victory of the PPP was confirmed.
Similarly, Sardar Hakim of the ruling party returned from the tehsil council of Mastuj while the PPP candidate Amirullah remained second.
In Mastuj tehsil, Sardar Hakim has scored 12,335 votes against 6,764 of Amir Ullah of the PPP, 5,969 of Suhrawardi Khan (independent), 3,590 of Muhammad Pervez of the PML-N and 1,155 of Nasir Ali Shah, independent.
