AYUN: Work on construction of the much-delayed Kalash valleys road from Ayun was on Friday inaugurated by the deputy commissioner (DC) of Lower Chitral.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Anwarul Haq said the construction of the road was an old project for which tenders had been floated earlier but work could not be started due to technical reasons.
He said work is being started on a three km portion of the road from Ayun to Dubash checkpost and two km from Dubash to Bumburate which is state property. However, construction of the road on the 41 km private land would be started after payment of compensation to the owners.
It may be noted that as the local and general elections drew nearer, the PTI government launched work on patches of the broken and dilapidated roads n Lower and Upper Chitral. The construction of the Shandur road was also launched in patches in November 2021.
These projects were approved by the previous PML-N government but after coming to power the PTI put the projects along with the construction of Garam Chashma road in the back burner.
