Lowari tunnel approach roads closed after snowfall

CHITRAL: The approach roads to the Lowari tunnel, from Chitral and Dir sides, were closed due to snowfall suspending traffic to and from the valley.
The Lower Chitral district administration and police said the approach roads to the tunnel are closed for all kinds of traffic.
It asked the travellers to postpone their plan of travel to and from Chitral till the roads are reopened.
Reports of heavy snowfall have been received from across Chitral, affecting routine life and mobility.
The Met Office has predicted widespread rain and snowfall in the northern parts of the country till Jan 6.
It also said that snowfall may cause closure of roads in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Meanwhile, a large number of people were reportedly stranded on northern and southern side of the tunnel waiting for the opening of the roads.
