BOONI: Students from the Govt Degree College for Boys Khandan held a protest demonstration against unavailability of water and other issues in their college on Monday.
Hundreds of students gathered at Booni bazaar and chanted ‘We want justice’ and other slogans.
They were carrying placards inscribed with their demands for supply of water to the college, and resolution of other issues such as shortage of teachers.
Shujaat Ali, a student, said since its establishment in the 1990s the college has been facing different issues.
He said there was a shortage of teachers that was impacting the studies of students. Besides the water issue, the furniture such as desks and tables were broken.
The college is located at a distance of about five km from Booni and due to absence if transport the students were facing problems, he added.
Addressing the protesters, Tehreek Huqooq leader Pervez Lal expressed concern over lack of water, the basic necessity of life, in the college.
He asked the local administration to ensure availability of water in the college within five days.
The degree college students protests ended after an official from the district administration assured the participants that the issue of water shortage would be resolved soon.
