AWI (UPPER CHITRAL): A new powerhouse of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) established by the Aga Khan Rural Support Program (AKRSP) in Memgol of Awi was formally inaugurated by KP chief minister’s adviser on power Mr Taj Muhammad Tarand.
Work on the 150 KV powerhouse was started in 2017 and after facing delays completed early this year.
Addressing a gathering of local people at Awi, the chief minister’s adviser congratulated them for the completion of the project, adding the journey towards electrification of villages could continue with the construction more powerhouses.
He announced the Rs1.5 million for the maintenance and completion of other work at the facility, adding Rs0.5 million would also be provided for the construction of a road to the powerhouse.
Former DHO Dr Sher Qayyum and retired headmaster Ali Jabbar Khan briefed the guest about the powerhouse.
CM’s adviser on minorities’ affairs Wazirzada, secretary energy and power Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, AKRSP regional program manager (RPM) Zuhur Aman Shah and others were also present.–Sher Afgan
