DIZG: The Aga Khan Rural Support Program (AKRSP) has approved upgradation of the distribution system of a powerhouse catering to the villages of Istach, Dizg, Khruzg, Mahting and Yukum in Upper Chitral.
In this regard, senior officials from AKRSP held a dialogue with the representatives of cluster organization at the Jamat Khana of Dizg on Tuesday.
The upgradation project to cost millions of rupees was approved through efforts of former union council nazim and notable of Yarkhun, Mr Farman Jaffar of Yukum.
A participant of the dialogue told ChitralToday that the AKRSP would provide 130 steel poles and 30,000 feet of cables along with equipment needed for the upgradation of the distribution network.
Wooden poles from the powerhouse in Yukum to Dizg had been replaced with steel ones through funds provided by former MNA Shahzada Iftikharuddin in 2018. The new poles to be arranged by the AKRSP will be installed by the local communities from Dizg to Istach.
Mr Farman Jaffar, cluster president Dilbar Murad and secretary Qari Gul Azam on behalf of the local communities thanked the AKRSP for approving funds for the upgradation of the power distribution network.
