Avalanche kills 35 cows and goats

YARKHUN: An avalanche on Wednesday killed at least 35 cows and goats at Lotgaz village in the north of Yarkhun Lasht.

Locals told ChitralToday that the avalanche also blocked the road to Broghil.

Earlier, essential goods and other supplies meant for Broghil were being transported up to Kankhon but the avalanche blocked the road to Kankhon too in north of Yarkhun  Lasht now.

The locals said the cows and goats were grazing along the riverside when the avalanche buried them.

Residents of Broghil are stranded in their homes due to the heavy snow and road blockade.

The locals called upon the government to reopen the road by removing the snow and ensure supply of essential commodities to Broghil on an emergency basis.
