The appointment of Prof. Zahir as VC for the University of Chitral is a welcoming positive step towards strengthening this institution. Obviously, the Professor will come with his own priorities but we expect that sooner than later Research and Learning Model will be adopted in the university which may include local interests and potential. Environmental degradation is in a worrisome situation in Chitral-more so in places where people are either not aware of it or just ignore it. The UoC needs a very strong and vibrant Environmental Sciences Department which should be guiding the locals through informed knowledge sharing attained through research. The institution will surely place a vital role in the development of Chitral in the long run. Some global universities run Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centres and studies within the University campuses. I hope Prof. Zahir will look into such possibilities.
We would also like to see more research publications from the academia. The insitution will probably uplipt the notion of merit all the time.
Welcome to Prof. Zahir appointment as VC of University of Chitral. We expect him to come here with some important departments like Bio technology, Development of herbs, geology, mines & minerals & Tourism that could bring prosperity to Chitral.
