Saboor lobbying for PTI ticket to reach Senate

Zulfiqar Ahmad

ISLAMABAD: Israr Saboor, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chitral, has started an intense lobbying for a party ticket to contest the Senate elections from Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

Well-placed sources privy to the development told ChitralToday that Saboor who remained the runner up in the 2018 general elections  from PK-1 Chitral is “moving from pillar to post” to get a ticket with the help of a Chitrali-American billionaire, who happens to be quite close to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

But background interactions with senior PTI leaders in Islamabad revealed that there is “no possibility at all” for Saboor to get ticket given the number of potential candidates in the country.

“I think he’s groping in the dark as the guy whom he is relying on is himself in the race for Senate ticket,’ said a senior PTI leader who declined to be named in an obvious reference to Zulfi Bokhari.

If by any means or through sheer stroke of luck Saboor succeeds in making it to the upper house of parliament, he will emerge as the second senator from Chitral after late Prince Burhanuddin.

Despite repeated attempts, Saboor could not be contacted for comments.

I would tend to disagree with you, Mr Saboor cuz we needed educated people like you to represent us in parliament.

Giving up at this stage would be like SURRENDERING before political mafia. For us Chitralis this is a big news cuz at least you are making an attempt to be a senator irrespective of who is backing you and who isn’t.

But at the end of the day, the thing which matters is: you tried. You fought to change the fate of Chitralis. You stood your ground when everyone else used politics to make a fortune. It does not matter whether you make it to Senate or not but there is no harm in giving it a try!

Do give it your best shot. You never know we will be addressing you as Senator Israr Saboor. If the gentleman from America is going to help you out, why not. And by doing so, he is helping people of Chitral and not an individual named Saboor.

Look at Saleem Khan. He was nobody before becoming a provincial minister. Now Saleem rules the roost. Though he did nothing for his people, he made a fortune at least. We are happy for him.

Do try and do avail the opportunity. I would say it is a plus if someone is helping you out in this race. Good luck and cannot wait to address you with no other name but: Senator Saboor!

Mr. Zulfiqar! you didn’t grow up. You use this forum times and again for releasing your personal grudges and dislikes. This is not the first time you friend. Please grow up now. If you do this time of journalism in other part of the world, you will get billions of defamation. But this is Pakistan

The report seems to be written with dark green mind. Mr. Saboor is a well educated and qualified politician and is 100 times better than most of politicians in both houses, who are nowadays, fighting like street dogs on the floor . It would have been blessing for Chitralies, If he (Saboor) was voted to win in election 2018.

My dear journalist the piece of news you have created has made me laugh, particularly the sentence ( 2nd senator from Chitral), I really don’t want to break the record of this poor first senator. I want to make it clear to everyone here that I am no more interested in Politics in any form.
