ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Thursday decided to shelve the LNG air mix projects in Chitral.
The ECC at a meeting decided that Sui Norther Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) may abandon the three projects in Drosh, Ayun and Chitral town and dispose of the land and equipment with minimal loss possible through an open transparent process.
The ECC meeting was held with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh in the chair.
The installation of LNG plants in Chitral was approved by the previous PML-N government after hectic efforts made by former MNA Shahzada Iftikharuddin.
The plants were also to be installed in other areas of Chitral such as Garam Chashma, Booni and Mastuj.
Highlighting the importance of the LPG project, Shahzada Iftikhar had said that initially over 15,000 households would get LPG through pipelines with the commissioning of the project at the same rate which a consumer of SNGPL got in Peshawar.
