District bar wants temporary bridge at Istaru
CHITRAL: The district bar association on Friday expressed concern over delays in construction of the Istaru bridge in Upper Chitral.
At a meeting with Niaz A. Niazi in the chair, the bar members expressed their concern that for over nine months people of Torkhow have remained virtually cut-off after collapse of the bridge.
With the onset of the winter, the alternative track will also become inaccessible after snowfall, creating a humanitarian crisis in the area with a population of over 100,000.
The meeting called upon the KP government and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to immediately arrange a steel bridge to restore connectivity to the area.– Bashir Hussain Azad
