BOONI: A mini-hydro powerhouse established in Yarkhun Lasht by the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) under the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) has been handed over to the local community.
In this regard, a handing/taking over ceremony was held in Booni in which officials from the NGO, local administration and community leaders were present.
The function was informed that work on the 306 kilowatt powerhouse started in 2015 and completed in June this year.
As many as nine villages, comprising 319 households, will benefit from the powerhouse.
Documents related to the project after approval by the local admin were handed over to the community leaders, making them the sole owner of the powerhouse.
They were also told to ensure proper maintenance of the facility so that the people of the remote area could fully benefit from it without any interruption
