Nauroz celebrations cancelled amid virus outbreak

CHITRAL: The Nauroz festival celebrations were cancelled in the Isamili-dominated valley of Lot Koh in Lower Chitral and Upper Chitral over fears of coronavirus.

The festival is marked on March 21 every year.

President of Ismaili Regional Council Dr Riaz Hussain told ChitralToday that the Nauroz celebrations led to large gatherings, so there was a high likelihood of the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, Chitral city wore a deserted look on Friday as most markets remained closed and thin attendance was reported in government and private offices.
