First suspected corona patient referred to Peshawar

CHITRAL: Soon after announcing the opening of an isolation ward, the district headquarters hospital on Thursday evening referred a suspected patient to Peshawar.

The medical superintendent of the hospital said the hospital had no screening facility and it would be better for the patient to get himself checked for the coronavirus in Peshawar.

Mujtaba Hussain, 19, of Ghoru village first reported to a medical centre in Mastuj with symptoms of COVID-19.

He had recently returned home from Islamabad where he had gone for work last year.

The doctor at the health centre referred the patient to immediately go to the DHQ hospital in Chitral but he went home instead.

Local people told ChitralToday that police reached the home village and took him back. He was later sent to Chitral town in an ambulance.

A large number of people belonging to Chitral have arrived in their home villages from different parts of the country.

Though the DHQ hospital opened an isolation ward it is worrying that it has not been provided with kits for the diagnose of the virus so far.
