Langlands school summoned in uniform contract plea

By Zulfiqar Ahmad

ISLAMABAD: Senior Civil Judge Chitral has summoned the administration of Langlands School and College to appear before the court on Sept 17 (today) in connection with an application filed against the institution for asking its students to purchase school uniform from a particular contractor.

The application was filed by lawyer Hazrat Ali Shah against the school after its management contracted out the supply of uniforms without floating any tender.

Talking to ChitralToday, Advocate Shah said he had moved the application with the senior civil judge and the court had stayed the sale of the uniforms by the school management to students.

“The uniforms were available at a very cheaper rate in the market but the principal of the school had banned purchase of uniforms, shoes, socks and other items from outside the school, for which I got a stay order, and the hearing will take place tomorrow (Tuesday,” he added.

He said the school principal had also been summoned in another case in which it had threatened to expel a class three student, daughter of one Fazle Khaliq, after he refused to pay an accumulated Rs85,000 fee.

After the father refused to pay the fee, the school management warned to expel the student forcing him to approach the court and got a stay order.

Advocate Shah said the court would take up both the applications on Tuesday (today).
