CHITRAL/BOONI: Traders in Booni and Chitral on Saturday joined the countrywide protest against government decision to get commercial activity documented and increase general sales tax in the budget 2019-20 by observing a shutter-down.
The bazaars in Chitral town and Booni are completely closed on the call given by the traders’ association of KP.
In Booni, thee traders also held a walk in the bazaar and later gathered at the Booni Chowk. Addressing the gathering, the speakers rejected the sales tax announced by the government in the budget.
The traders said due to the unjustified taxes, prices of each and every item had gone up and broken the back of the common man.
The speakers, Rahim Khan, Muhammad Shafi, social worker Rehmat Salam, Mukhtar Lal, Zahiruddin Babar and others called upon the government to withdraw the sales tax otherwise the protest would be extended.–Karim Ullah
