Upper Chitral power crisis to end as transformer arriving

BOONI: A transformer with capacity of seven megawatt has been sent from Lahore to Chitral for installation at Jutilasht to provide uninterrupted power to Upper Chitral as well as the Koh area.

Talking to ChitralToday, Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam leader Muhammad Pervez Lal said due to joint efforts made by the Tehreek, civil society and elected representatives the government at last arranged the transformer to resolve the power crisis of the area on a permanent basis.

The transformer will be installed at Jutilasht till a separate and permanent grid station for Upper Chitral is established.

As there is no shortage of electricity after the completion of the Golen Gol powerhouse, the only issue to supply power to Upper Chitral was lack of a transformer. He said public representatives played their due role in getting the new transformer arranged by the government.

He also thanked Engineer Fazle Rabbi, the contractor, for his continuous efforts to ensure the arrangement of the transformer for Upper Chitral.

He expressed the hope that the people of Upper Chitral would get rid of the issue of power outages after the installation of the new transformer.

  1. Lower Chitral power crisis has not ended despite having all the transformers. It is not the transformers. It is the finger trouble of WAPDA for which there is no cure.
