Tehreek warns against bids to show Qaqlasht as state land

BOONI: Tehreek-e-Huqooq Awam on Tuesday said a group of people through the social media tried to give an impression that Qaqlasht is a state property.

The Tehreek in a statement said its leaders held a meeting with its chairman Mukhtar Ahmed Lal in the chair in Booni today. The participants unanimously agreed that a strategy would be chalked out after Eid regarding the matter. But it is very clear that some people are trying to politicize the issue over Qaqlasht by playing with sentiments of the locals.

It said Qaqlasht was the shamilat land of people living in its immediate vicinity and has been used by the locals as such for centuries. The meeting warned the particular group of people to refrain from trying to give an impression that Qaqlasht is a state land in order to give benefit to people of a particular area.

It may be noted that a few years ago the PTI government in KP planned to launch a housing scheme in Qaqlasht which was oppsoed by people of Booni.

On Monday, a group of people at a press conference in Chitral demanded that the government should stop alleged land grabbing in Qaqlasht, saying the land was a property of people of Torkhow, Mulkhow, Booni, and Charun union council.
