Women turnout in elections 2018 61.57pc in Chitral

CHITRAL: The general elections 2018 saw active public participation with the overall turnout of over 52 percent in the country.

Though in many constituencies, voting by women still remains an issue, women in Chitral showed their political emancipation and activism by hugely taking to the polling stations on July 25.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the turnout of women voters in Chitral remained  61.57 percent – even slightly higher than males\’ turnout which remained at 60.49pc. The constituency with the lowest turnout of women voters (3pc) was NA-39 (Dera Ismail Khan II). The women turnout in most of the NA constituencies remained below 30pc.
Form 47 for NA 1 seen by ChitralToday showed that there were a total of 269,579, including 118,360 women. The total votes polled were 164,355 – females 72,880 and males 91,475. As many as 5,430 votes were rejected. And the turnout in the constituency for both males and females remained 60.96pc.
