A visionary leader

In the history of Chitral there have been so many people who have served the land in their capacity as MNAs and MPAs but there has not been a single man who has been so much sincere, dedicated and committed.

Before I go to write something about Shahzada Iftikharuddin, I would like to make it clear that nobody should consider me as a political follower of the MNA. Being a Chitrali I am really inspired by the services of MNA and it’s our due role to realize the differences between political representatives and should appreciate those who contribute more to the area.
The activities which deserve real appreciation are:

(1) Work on energy sector, Chitral despite being a beautiful land was suffering from energy crisis very severely. It’s no doubt a hub of tourism but to promote tourism and employment generation availability of electricity is a must. So in order to make functional Golen project MNA played an excellent role.

In this modern age, no one can deny the significance of electricity, it is providing of incalculable values, the electric lamp, the electric fan, the electric heaters, the electric press, and a hundred other electronic appliances have been introduced into daily life and have made life really worth living.

(2) Infrastructural development, again infrastructure development is the backbone and prerequisite of any developing country. It can provide an excellent foundation for the development of realistic and meaningful society where people feel easy to approach any opportunity, it can pave way for investor in tourism industry, energy, mineral, business and trade. There are a number of young energetic entrepreneurs who are required enabling business environment, being no proper infrastructure people are not availing the opportunities like hoteling industry etc.

So Mr Iftikhar has been the only man who has taken this noble initiative to spread the network of road, it is his individual effort that many of the road tender have been done and few are under process. Hope in near future these projects will be functional, it can have a very positive impact on the area, and it will give satisfaction to the tourist who don’t visit Chitral because of the poor infrastructure. In the other hand it can save many precious lives from accident as usually such incident are happening in winter season due to the poor condition of route.

(3) installation of Gas plant, for a couple of years we are observing natural disaster and calamities, i.e. floods, avalanches, land erosion, deforestation etc., already it has uprooted many people from their home and villages still it is going to be extremely grave danger to Chitral. This is quite damaging to the natural environment and exposed local residence to serious disease, without steady hard work it is impossible to approve gas plant for a far flung area like Chitral.

The extraordinary services of Iftikahar is unforgettable he take the initiative and did most of the official and technical work related to the plant.Hope very soon we will be benefiting from gas. Chitral being a red zone area is suffering from rapid ecological changes the ratio of forest is decreasing day to day, wild life is the greatest assets of Chitral they are dying every years because of global warming and pollution, in this context Iftikhar being as a son of Chitral fulfill their role as leader.

(4) Telecommunication, till to this day there were no network services in most remote areas of Chitral, particularly with respect to the modern world, everyone will accept the importance of means of communication, we do not hesitate to pronounce Mr Iftikhar a wise and visionary leader who with respect to the modern demand made it possible. Now people of the remote areas feeling easy to communicate with friends and relatives living at a long distance to the family members.

To sum up the main activities of MNA sahib I would like to say that Chitral is very rich in mineral, gemstone, water resources and bio diversity, the area is one of the best tourism destination of the world, it has the potential to generate billion of revenue from its natural resources. For the time being Chitral lacks a developmental road map.  There is a need for unity, cooperation and collective working beyond any political affiliation, it is not far that the region can become self-sufficient and will generate revenue if the current political setup work on important matter of public interest.

The services of Mr Iftikhar are remarkable, it’s beyond any doubt that he has set a model for the coming leadership to achieve; his services are really inspiring.

  1. In the last elections Shahzada Iftikhar returned as a solo MNA from the APL platform. I wondered how he could be able to survive in the face of bitter opposition from the party in power (PML-N). In KPK a coalition of PTI and JI formed the provincial government. There seemed to be no way out for him to do any service for his electorate. In such a situation he was doomed to collapse all at once. His only hope was to use his personal links and family affiliations to get closer to the powers that be. He made the best use of his talent and did not spare a single movement in his command that could be used for the service of Chitral. The work that he was able to do is simply monumental given the situation that he was in. This must be appreciated by my brothers across Chitral. Don’t cast your vote in his favour as it is your right to decide but appreciate the reality. I cast my provincial vote in favour of PTI candidate the last time out of my curiosity to see the change. I did cast my vote in favour of Pervez Musharaf for NA seat, I am happy my vote did not go waste.

    1. Sir, visionary leader gets votes on his own vision. Iftikhar is an opportunist as he added with Musharraf when he knew people of Chitral would vote for him for lowari tunnel. But when Musharraf was in trouble he sided with Nawaz and tried to join pmln. This was confirmed by Nawaz Sharif himself. Now when mush is politically gone he tries to cash funds given by pmln govt for Chitral projects. You your self say that you voted for Mush. Now who you will vote again. If you vote mush again I can salute your stance but you you go for NS I can’t see any vision here.

  2. I tend to disagree with you because Iftikhar managed to become MNA through sheer luck as he was covering candidate for Gen Musharraf. And then he cashed in on the situation and ditched his own party boss. This very online newspaper broke the story in which he claimed the votes bagged were not due to Gen Musharraf. He then denied the story, and then few years later he accepted that he betrayed Musharraf.

To cut the long story short, Iftikhar had no extraordinary thing in his credit. He is now out in the name of so-called service for chitral which is not going to help in begging the votes in next elections. Let us see how many votes he gets in this election as he is set to jump into fray through the platform of PML-N – a party which is set to be wiped out. And yes, the time is rife the people of chitral must take revenge from the MNA for betraying with their Muhsin – Musharraf – in next elections. If Nawaz Sharif had been so sincere he could have opened the tunnel for you long long ago. Do not forget the way he ridiculed at Chitral polo ground by announcing a few crore rupees.

  3. Mr. Iftikhar uddin is not merely a political leader, in fact he’s a true statesman. He poses utmost capabilities of leadership with high moral and ethical values. At present we can’t see a single political leader from Chitral (in its true essence) who could cope with honorable Iftikhar Uddin in his political wisdom and strategic thinking abilities for the people of Chitral. What he did in the last five years for the people of Chitral is self explanatory. One needs to see the larger picture here. A nice write up based on factual occurrences.
