CHITRAL: A taxi car (Ghwagei) carrying six passengers fell into river Chitral in front of Ayun on Wednesday. The bodies of four of the passengers were recovered a few hours later but search was still ongoing for two bodies, including that of a minor boy when this report was filed at about 4pm. The vehicle was going to Upper Dir from Chitral town when it skidded off the hilly and narrow road due to speeding and fell 1,500 feet down into the river after hitting a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The deceased were identified as Tanvir (driver), son of Iskendar, resident of Chumarkhan; Samiur Rehman, son of Habibur Rehman, resident of Gologh, Denin; Nizamuddin and his wife, residents of Chew Dok. The bodies of Mufti Mehmood of Garam Chashma and four-year-old Fahimuddin, son of Nizamuddin, are still missing. A large number of people from the nearby areas as well as passengers travelling on the Chitral-Peshawar road gathered near the river where a lake had formed after floods in Ayun blocked the river two years ago. –Syed Nazir Hussain]]>
