Most of us during our school days will be well familiar with this famous theory. “SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST” coined by the 19th century well known philosopher and biologist Herbert Spencer.
This theory implies that the strongest i.e the fittest individual or group will flourish, succeed and dictate terms because they are more able and fit to do so where as the vulnerable or weak will perish and extinct because they cannot compete and withstand with the hard and harsh surroundings. If we talk in the broader spectrum this law is fully applicable to the people of Chitral which is supposed to be the most backward and remote part of Pakistan.
Our vast territory of Chitral stretches from Lowari top to the Shandur top. The total territory of Chitral constitutes 45% of the total territory of KPK. Chitral is the largest district in KPK as far as our territory is concerned. According to the latest census our population will be touching half a million very soon. Due to our vast territory, tough terrain and severe weather conditions at present the people of Chitral are deprived of better administrative services. It demands a Herculean effort and extraordinary planning to provide better administrative services which is lacking in our case.
The carving idea is paramount because it will ensure better administrative services to the people of Chitral. In this way better infrastructure, better health care facilities and quality of education will improve. There will be plenty of job opportunities as a result we can alleviate the menace of poverty. Apart from these this carving move has some multidimensional positive implications not only on Chitral but on our country.
The division of Chitral will also address on national internal security. We are confronting with a hostile enemy like India. India has already initiated a proxy war against us using the afghan territory. In the recent past the infiltrators from the afghan side have violated our sanctity of territorial integrity. In these cross border attacks many of our jawans embraced shahadat. A foreign was kidnapped for ransom from Bomborate.
In another episode Kalash shepherd was shot dead and the livestock were stolen. India is trying to sabotage the Pak China economic corridor which is a game change in the region. Due to the division of Chitral we can secure our western borders. There will be a proper and sound border management mechanism.
Similarly, during Disaster (earthquake, flooding, avalanches etc) the rescue, relief and rehabilitation processes can be completed in a more small organized and swift way. Due to our vast territory nowadays it is impossible for any Deputy commissioner to monitor and assess the magnitude of the disaster as a result there will be a delay adding insult to the injury of the affected people. I hope this very genuine demand based on merit will be a reality very soon.
