CHITRAL: The people of Chitral are facing hosts of issues due to the excessive and unending power loadshedding.
The local people said the loadshedding duration has increased to 20 hours due to which the refrigerators and other equipment run with electricity have been rendered useless in this hot summer. They said excessive loadshedding had affected their domestic life and business activities.
The area people called upon the federal and provincial governments to allocate funds for Singor power station and increase its capacity to four megawatts.
A shopkeeper in Chitral Bazaar told this scribe that he cap-making business had suffered a blow due to the prolonged power outages.
“How can we do our work when power supply remains disconnected for 18 hours,” he said.
It is worth mentioning that Chitral has the potential to generate over 10,000 megawatts of electricity because of its water resources but no government took interest to utilize the resources for the construction of hydro powerhouses to overcome the energy crisis in the country.
