A coordination meeting was also held with different INGOs and NGOs working in the district to gauge their performance with activity wise. The meeting was also attended by AAC Abdul Akram. It was stressed in the meeting to obtain NOC from the PDMA before initiating any disaster-related activity and as well share their progress report with the PDMA and district adminstartion. The officials also recorded issues faced by the NGOs.
The team also held a meeting with the district administration and discussed disaster-related issues and measures in the district.
“We appreciate the efforts of the PDMA director general to send a team to the district, located in the red zone and more vulnerable to disasters caused by the impacts of climate change,” an official of the local administration said.
The PDMA head was requested to give top priority to the infrastructure of the district badly damaged by the flash floods. Important amongst them are Garam Chashma and Bamborate road and Reshun, Awi in Shoghor and Ayun villages. Keeping in view the needs and vulnerability of the district, he was expected to initiate a mega project in the district.

It isn’t clear whether the PDMA Team visited Yarkhun, Laspur, Torkhow and Terich valleys or returned from Chitral Town. Touring to Chitral Town shall do nothing, except wastage of time and money. The main tributaries of Chitral River and melting glaciers causing floods lie at the above mentioned valleys of Chitral. But, unfortunately, the responsible authorities have, always failed reaching the people of these areas. We see the District Administration is also concentrating at the Town area and its surroundings.
We hope this centralized approach to the problem wouldn’t be repeated in future.
