What is attracting Chitralis towards PML-N?

The latest activities on the platform of the PML-N seem interesting in the sense that Nawaz Sharif has never been so popular among the people of Chitral.

ChitralToday contacted Mr Saeed Ahmed and asked him about the sudden change of hearts among the people of Chitral towards Nawaz Sharif.

“In the past, there was lots of propaganda against PML-N and Nawaz Sharif but thank God now things are becoming clear and people have started realizing the fact that it was only the PML-N central government which reached out to the masses in difficult times such as the two calamities that struck Chitral one after the other this year.” He said the two recent visits to Chitral by the prime minister in a quick succession also worked as a catalyst to clear the misconceptions among the people about Nawaz Sharif.

“The federal government has allocated a huge amount of funds for the rehabilitation work in the flood and quake-affected areas of Chitral and the local leaders of the ruling party have been directed not to interfere in the relief and rehabilitation activities.”

He said people whose houses were damaged fully or partially were getting sufficient compensations irrespective of party affiliations. Mr Ahmed said the announcement by the prime minister to complete the Lowari tunnel by December 2016, construct the Chitral-Shandur, Garam Chashma and the Kalash valley roads and the allocation of Rs27 billion for the Chakdara-Chitral highway project have also sent a wave of jubilation across Chitral.

The PML-N Chitral president said Nawaz Sharif had always given priority to the development of Chitral. He said during his June 1999 visit to Chitral, Mr Sharif, who was also the prime minister at that time, announced Rs1 billion development funds for Chitral. He said Nawaz Sharif had also announced to construct the Lowari tunnel but due to the freezing of funds after the 1998 nuclear explosions by Pakistan, the project could not be launched.

Besides, the PML-N government was toppled in a military coup by the then army chief, Pervez Musharraf, in 1999. “We appreciate that Musharraf launched the work on the Lowari tunnel but the project was actually taken up before him by Nawaz Sharif during his third tenure as the prime minister in the late 1990,” he added. He said the prime minister had also promised to visit Chitral again to overview the rehabilitation works during which he would announce more development projects for the valley.

You are right this project executed during Military regime, however the founder party PPP diverted the fund of Lowari to Multan, Gujar Khan and Sind that is fact in record.
The didnt pay any penny during 2008 to 2012 project remain suspended mostly, yearly they were allocating 500million however in actual they were diverting the same amount to his rulers place.
When Nawaz came into power he instructed to complete as soon as possible without any further delay, he said there would be no issue to any fund he can arrange every year more than 2 billion to lowari, thats why the progress inside tunnel has been increased, he has further gave the date line for completion in end of 2016, due to his committed positive and progressive attitude people of Chitral understand that he is the Man who can achieved this target.
The infrastructure in Chitral are much needed to build in emergency basis, here we supporting Nawaz , while Khan sb and KPK govt are trying to improve the Education and Health sector we Supporting PTI and khan.

My dear friend, ex-MPA Sayed Ahmad’ has surprised us saying that Lawari Tunnel Project was taken up by Nawaz Sharif. We Chitrali see that this project was executed during the Military Regime, within a short period of 5 years. During the Zadari Rule, the PPP activist tried their best to divert its credit to Bhuttu. Now my dear friend is attempting to high jack the credit for Nawaz sahib. Let us see what the Nawaz Government would add to the economy, education, healthcare and protection of natural life, during its 5 years tenure. His visit to Chitral to meet the affected citizen was his institutional duty and compensation was the legal right of the people. So far attraction to PML-N is concerned, it has been an old habit of some people to change their loyalty in favour of the ruling party for their personal ends.Just revisit our blackened political history.
