PIA to operate four weekly flights to Chitral
The national flag carrier will be operating four days a week flights on the Chitral-Islamabad route – on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. This will provide a much-needed relief to the people of Chitral who have long been demanding an increase in the number of flights to and from the valley. PIA had earlier announced that it would transport relief goods to the earthquake-hit areas free of cost. The valley of Chitral remains cut off for over four months due to the closure of the Lowari pass in winter every year. Currently, there were only two flights a week on the Chitral route that too were frequently cancelled on the pretext of bad weather. As a result, passengers, especially women and elderly, suffered hardship while travelling to and from the valley.]]>
