JUI demands FIR against Lowari tunnel project director

DROSH, March 8: Jamiat Ulema Islam tehsil Drosh has demanded the immediate removal of Poroject Director Lowari tunnel.

At a meeting in Drosh, the JUI said the horrible situation at the tunnel was created deliberately by the Lowari tunnel project director. The meeting unanimously passed a resolution demanding strict observance of the announced schedule of the passenger traffic via the tunnel. The JUI said that on March 7 the NHA authorities deliberately stopped passengers at the Dir side in heavy snowfall to push hundreds of passengers into a dead valley.

The party lauded the services of the army, Chitral Scouts, AC Drosh, SDPO Drosh and SHO Drosh for rescuing hundreds of passengers between Saturday and Sunday night. It also demanded lodging an FIR against the NHA high-ups. Later, the JUI held a protest demonstration in new bazar Drosh and demanded immediate removal of the project director,Hamid Hassan, who it added was deliberately creating problems for the people of Chitral.

The JUI warned that if the official was not removed, its activists would start a project movement. The JUI said in case of any untoward happening or lose of life or property, an FIR would be registered against the NHA and SAMBO officials.
