Chitral team defeated in football tournament final

CHITRAL, Sept 4: Bannu football team here on Thursday clinched the Inter-Regional Football Championship trophy by defeating Chitral by two to one goals. The matches were played at the parade ground of Government Centennial Model High School Chitral. The tournament was organized by the directorate of sports and youth affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 636The first semifinal was played between Chitral and D.I. Khan football teams. In the first half of the match, Adnan Tariq of Chitral team scored a goal while in the other half Ziaul Islam of Chitral scored the second goal and won the match with 2 goals. In the second semifinal, Bannu Division Football and Mardan team scored two goals each but the result was decided by a penalty kick in which Bannu defeated Mardan by four goals to three. The final match was contested between Bannu and Chitral team in which Bannu team defeated Chitral team by two to one goals. President Qaumi Watan Party Chitral Abdul Wali Khan Abid advocate was chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, he demanded the establishment of a public stadium in Chitral. He announced Rs15,000 for the winning team and Rs10,000 for the runner-up team. Director Sports Arshad Hussain hailed the youth and players of Chitral for their potentials. He said that he would recommend the construction of a stadium in Chitral to provide an opportunity to the local youth to enhance their skill in different games.]]>
